If the outdoors is your favorite place to be, no doubt at some point you will need camping and hiking gear.

For those, who have never been, but are considering this pastime, here are some basic needs for their adventure into the wild.

The Necessities

One of the first things you will want to make sure you have is comfortable clothing and shoes. Lightweight clothing that is loose enough to keep from bothering you as you are hiking is advised.

A good pair of hiking boots will keep your feet dry should the need arise. They are also important for protecting you feet and should be comfortable so there are no blisters to ruin your hike.

Another thing you will want to take is a tent. A sleeping bag and a backpack to carry everything you need will be required as well.

If you decide an airbed would be better suited for your sleeping needs, something to air it up will be needed.

Of course, food and drinks will be a camping and hiking gear necessity and something to cook on if you are taking food that has to be heated. A camp stove will be fine if you need to heat anything.

If you are the morning coffee type, heating water will be necessary. Do not forget your propane tank or your can opener.

You will need a lighter to get your camp stove going and a flashlight or two is necessary. Remember to take a first aid kit just to be on the safe side and some spray to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

For hiking during the day while you are there you will need to have a map of the area and a compass or a GPS. Getting lost in the woods is no one's idea of a fun camping or hiking trip.

Your Non-Necessities

Your camera will be great to take along so you can get pictures of anything you wander upon that is interesting. Wildlife, flowers, trees and plants always make interesting pictures.

Although this may not be a necessity when it comes to camping and hiking gear, it is nice to have mementos of your trip.camping gas stove

Binoculars are another item that will be handy to have for checking out anything you cannot see from far away.

You may want to take a radio or a CD player for listening to in the evening when you are turning in for the night.

Outdoor chairs are another thing that may be carried along. Fold-up chairs are perfect for this type of trip. They do not take much room and they are more comfortable than the ground.

These are some of the things you will want to take when packing your camping and hiking gear. There may be other things that you may require, so make sure when you plan your trip that you make a list to ensure you do not forget any necessities.
